helsea is a rapidly growing young city located at the foothills of the Oak Mountain Ranges in Shelby County, AL. The past decade has brought big changes in population to Chelsea. From an unincorporated community, Chelsea became a town in 1996.

By the time the 2000 Census was taken, Chelsea had attracted enough people to pass the population requirement to become a city. Chelsea has outpaced census growth estimates by 51+%. The population boom continues.
